Dr. David James Crum
Dr. Crum realized his dream of becoming an equine veterinarian after working with both large and small animals growing up on a farm in western Pennsylvania. He attended Michigan State University in the Animal Science/Pre-veterinary program, then went on to attend and graduate from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. Dr. Crum worked at three distinctly different veterinary practices giving him valuable experience with Thoroughbred and Standardbred race horses, sport horses, Hunters and Jumpers, rodeo horses and backyard horses. Crum Equine Veterinary Service was founded in 1998 in Pickerington, Ohio. In 2002, the practice was moved to Lancaster, Ohio just a few miles southeast of Pickerington. Dr. Crum’s interests lie in sports medicine, lameness, reproduction and dentistry with an emphasis on lameness, diagnostics and performance sports medicine. Outside of work, Dr. Crum enjoys anything active outdoors and spending time with his wife and two young children
Veterinary Assistant – Brandon Brooks
Brandon is a 2012 graduate of The Ohio State University majoring in Agricultural Systems Management. He was raised on his family’s beef farm near Athens, Ohio and was highly involved in 4-H and FFA holding offices in each club. He took market steers to the county fair and his late horse Dash to the county and state fair in contest classes. Today he still enjoys being around horses and cattle and resides near Athens with his wife, Jessica and Springer Spaniel, Molly.
Office Administrator – Sherrie Kelley
Sherrie was born and raised in Lancaster, Ohio. She came to Crum Equine Veterinary Service in December 2014 with over 25 years of experience in the Business areas of Purchasing, Production and Finance. She has loved and raised mostly adopted or abandoned dogs and cats since she was a child. She had a desire to ride and own horses but did not have that dream come true until the age of 34 when she and her husband bought their first horse for their daughter. She now shares that love of horses with her grown daughter and granddaughters. She shares the love of beach with her husband and enjoys bike riding and hiking on the weekends with him. Another past time she enjoys is quilting. Picking out fabrics and patterns for lap quilts for special friends is a joy to her. She truly feels that God has blessed her.
Customer Relations/Inventory Control – Kris Sand
Kris was raised in Lancaster, Ohio. She has spent the last 10 years living in the Hocking Hills region. After 20 years in the accounting field, Kris found herself in the midst of a career changing experience, which led her to Crum Equine in February, 2015. Kris, who is an animal lover, was excited and eager to learn about equine veterinary medicine. Kris enjoys spending her free time with her husband, daughter, grandchildren and various animals.
